Security

A couple of weeks ago Quincie's friend rode her bike over on Saturday afternoon. It was a very cool, new beach cruiser she got for her birthday in December. It was late, and dark, on Saturday evening, so her dad picked her up and left the bike to pick up with the truck on Sunday. We parked it next to our house, just inside the yard from the carport. It was there when we came home from church about 11:30am. When Kylie and her dad showed up about 2pm to pick it up, it was gone! We were home, that entire time. Someone walked up and stole the bike in the middle of a Sunday afternoon. Chester, our fierce little puppy, was napping on the couch with me.

Since then several tools have been stolen from the back of Carl's truck while parked in our carport. One day last week, Ryker noticed a tool laying on the trash can, with the power cord stuck under something heavy in the back of the truck. This happened sometime between 6:30am and 11:00am in the middle of the week.

Chester is a great dog, and growing rapidly. He was 31 pounds last week, probably a few more by now. But.... he is not a guard dog. He is little, and cute and sleeps in a warm bed with Ryker all night. He might be a good guard dog one day, but in the meantime, all the good stuff is disappearing from our yard and Carl's truck.

So ..... we are now a 2 dog family. On Friday we were talking about solutions to this problem. Ryker started looking on Craigslist for dogs needing a new home. We found Kai(that name is under review. We are leaning towards Charlie or Clyde), an 18 month old lab/pit bull mix. He was living in a studio apartment in Waikiki and needed to find a new home. He is a great dog! He loves Carl's truck! He has slept there the last few nights and is happy as can be. Right now he can roam around, but is sitting happily in the back of the truck.

Last night I slept well. I feel very safe with him right out side the door. I don't think anything else will go missing, except maybe the arm of the next idiot that sticks his hand in the back of Carl's truck!

He hadn't been bathed in a while. He didn't mind the washing much at all. He is big and strong, and having a team of dog washers was a good idea. We took both of our furry guys on a couple walks today and they are very good walkers. Chester was terrified of him at first, but now they have calmed down and things are good.

  1. You should name him...Sa-cur-ity. That would be funny. So if you catch someone roaming around on your property you just yell out, "SA-cur-ity! SA-cur-ity!" Now I am just crackin' myself up picturing that.

Sorry about the tools, though. That is not awesome!!!

  4. Linda, I am a lab lover too!

They stole things like drills and nail guns. A hammer or screwdriver would not warrant a response such as this.

I love the dog. He is so sweet and friendly. But his bark will scare the bejebus out of ya!
